Vice President and Associate Provost for Diversity Search

Message from Provost & Executive Vice President, Dr. Karan L. Watson

Applications for Vice President and Associate Provost for Diversity are now being accepted. This predominantly internal search at Texas A&M University is seeking a tenured faculty member who will continue to coordinate and lead our efforts to position us to be the nation's leading University in inclusion, equity, and diversity. Applications from candidates outside the University will be considered, if such candidates demonstrate a strong understanding & connection to of Texas A&M University.

Applications should include a full curriculum vitae, a list of contacts for three people for recommendations on the candidate's strengths for the position, and a cover letter explaining the candidate's interest in serving in this position.  Information on the search is available at http://provost.tamu.edu/initiatives/vpap-diversitysearch2017/.

Applications will be accepted until the position is filled, but for full consideration complete applications should be submitted by Wednesday, April 12, 2017.

The search advisory committee is composed of:
Dr. Eleanor Green, Carl B. King Dean of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (Chair)
Dr. Barbara Abercrombie, Vice President of Human Resources and Organizational Effectiveness
Dr. Jorge Vanegas, Professor & Dean of Architecture
Dr. C.J. Woods, Associate Vice President for Student Affairs
Mr. Juan Garza, Assistant Vice President, Provost Information Technology and doctoral candidate

The search advisory committee will interact with constituencies representing diverse groups of university, community and former student leaders to engage in dialogue and gain inputs into desired essential leadership skills for the next Vice President & Associate Provost for Diversity.

The goal is to invite top candidates to interact with university representatives and many diverse constituencies representing current students, faculty, and staff, as well as community leaders and former students in university wide forums in late April and May. The committee will gather inputs from these broad groups and make recommendations for finalist/s to the Provost and President by June.

As we have previously announced, Dr. Christine Stanley has agreed to continue to serve in this important role until the new Vice President & Associate Provost is in place, which we hope will be during the summer of 2017.
