Dean of Faculties Returning to Faculty

Published on Wed 09/22/21

Dr. Blanca Lupiani is leaving her position as Dean of Faculties and Associate Provost at Texas A&M University. She will return to her faculty appointment of Professor in the Department of Veterinary Pathobiology, College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences on Oct. 1.

Dr. Lupiani has held various positions in her 10 years of administrative service at Texas A&M. She started in the Office of the Dean of Faculties in September 2011 as an ADVANCE Administrative Fellow and later became Associate Dean of Faculties, Interim Dean of Faculties and Associate Provost, and Executive Associate Dean of Faculties. From October 2017 through March 2018, she served as Interim Vice President and Associate Provost for Diversity. In March 2019, she was named Dean of Faculties and Associate Provost.

As Dean of Faculties and Associate Provost, she has overseen and streamlined functions related to faculty affairs and promotion and tenure, increasing both transparency and accountability. Under her guidance, faculty and leadership development programs were significantly expanded, and ADVANCE was institutionalized within the Office of the Dean of Faculties.

Other units reporting to Dr. Lupiani include the Center for Teaching Excellence, Immigration Services for Faculty and Scholars, ADVANCE, and the Academy for the Visual and Performing Arts.

Dr. Lupiani’s most cherished accomplishment is the expansion of professional development programs for faculty from all ranks and tracks, at every stage of their career, and the creation of leadership programs for academic leaders, especially department heads.

We thank her for her years of dedicated service to Texas A&M and wish her well as she returns to the faculty. Details will be forthcoming regarding leadership in this important area.

Sincerely,

Timothy P. Scott ’89
Interim Provost & Executive Vice President
