First-Generation College Celebration Week begins Nov. 2

Published on Wed 10/28/20
Dear Texas A&M Community,

We hope you will join us next week — the week of November 2nd — to celebrate first-generation students at the first-ever virtual First-Generation College Celebration. The Routh First-Generation Center and the Office for Student Success warmly invite all students, faculty, and staff to celebrate first-generation students, meaning those whose parents or guardians have not earned a bachelor’s degree. These students exemplify excellence and leadership as trailblazers in their families, and we are excited to honor them as an integral part of the Texas A&M community. First-Generation College Celebration events and activities are planned all week to remind our first-generation students: “You belong here.”

The celebration takes place from November 2nd to November 6th, leading up to the National First-Generation College Celebration Day on November 8th. The week’s events include virtual panels and workshops to elevate first-generation voices and experiences. There will also be opportunities to encourage first-generation students through video messages. For more information, view the full First-Generation College Celebration schedule and contact the Routh First-Generation team

As a First-Forward Institution, Texas A&M University is committed to advancing educational outcomes for first-generation students. We look forward to seeing you online and joining together to celebrate our first-generation students and cheer them onward toward their educational goals.
