Appointment of University Libraries Interim Dean

Published on Wed 06/09/21

The following message is sent on behalf of Dr. Mark H. Weichold, interim provost and executive vice president.

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Julie Mosbo Ballestro as interim dean of University Libraries at Texas A&M University, beginning July 1.

Mosbo Ballestro

Professor Mosbo Ballestro will oversee administration of all University Libraries while a search is conducted to fill the deanship full time.

Professor Mosbo Ballestro has served most recently as associate dean for administration and faculty services at Texas A&M University. She served as interim director of Cushing Memorial Library and Archives and has held other positions of leadership in libraries in Texas and Illinois.

A clinical associate professor, she holds a certificate of advanced study in preservation administration from the University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree in library and information studies from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. She earned her bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of Central Arkansas.

Please join us in thanking Professor Mosbo Ballestro for her willingness to serve Texas A&M University and our University Libraries as interim dean. She replaces David Carlson, who has served as dean of University Libraries for the past nine years.
