School of Dentistry

The School of Dentistry has been a distinguished resource for dental education in Texas for more than 100 years and is dedicated to combining higher education and research with community service. Known internationally for producing excellent clinicians, the school opened in 1905. Since then, it has graduated more than 8,000 dentists and dental hygienists. Nearly one-third of all dentists in Texas are School of Dentistry graduates. The school also graduates a large number of dental hygienists with bachelor’s degrees in the state. In addition to a doctor of dental surgery and bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene, postdoctoral certificate and degree programs are offered.

Founded in 1998 as the first public health school in the nation with a focus on rural and underserved communities, the School of Public Health developed into a nationally ranked, fully accredited public health academic, research and service program.
